The Medline Sales Conference in Schaumberg

The Medline Sales Conference in Schaumberg

"the off" at the Medline Conference in Schaumberg as we follow the Kentucky Derby theme

Last week we attended a Medline sales conference in Schaumberg. The theme was Kentucky Derby and it certainly felt like "the off" when the representatives arrived in the hall to talk to us! We had a wonderful evening talking to the Medline people and admiring their outfits, both men and women, dresses, bow ties, hats and fascinators. It's good to see that fascinators have hit America, I am very fond of a fascinator, a bit of nonsense on the head that can stay on all through the event with no danger of hat hair! I was even called upon to help tie one chap's bow tie and I am pleased to report that I can still do it, (Howard is very adept at tying his own, very James Bond of him!).

We had the opportunity to get glammed up ourselves last weekend as we attended the wedding of our best friend's daughter in Newquay in Cornwall. You can see from the photo my penchant for a fascinator! Next up is WOCN in Salt Lake City starting on the 20th of May, see us on booth 1241.

We've been chasing spring in North America. We spent a couple of days in New York and the sun came out to show us New York at its best giving us the opportunity to have a quick walk in Central Park and admire the cherry blossom. We haven't been to New York for some time and I had forgotten how pretty some of the architecture is.

Later we visited Montreal and were rewarded with a lovely sunny afternoon. We had the opportunity to visit the wonderful Syrian restaurant, Damas, www.damas.ca, where the food is sublime, worth going to Montreal just for supper! Whilst walking to our meeting we happened across a fascinating Barbie Doll exhibition with lots of 'characters' and designer dresses, great fun.

We spent time in our old haunts in Chicagoland visiting our warehouse and accountants and the  weather was mixed as only Chicago weather can be, high summer one day and wet winter the next!

Moving Offices

Moving Offices

A move to Delray Beach is fun but oh the restaurants are tempting!

Moving Offices

Last week we moved our office from Riviera Beach in Florida to Delray Beach. We have been renting an office for 5 years from a very good friend whose business is based in Riviera Beach and have got to know his staff quite well so it was bitter sweet to move out. (We only moved because his business is expanding and he needed the space, we are still good friends!). The Riviera Beach office location is in an industrial area so lunch is usually a sandwich at the desk.

The upside is that Delray Beach is a fun holiday town with lots of cafes to walk to for lunch, fortunately it is a 10 minute walk so the exercise balances the extra calories we might eat because of a greater number of choices for lunch!

After a couple of days coping with computer glitches we are now up and running and looking forward to making new friends in the other offices around us.

The Great Saljet Shirt Competition

The Great Saljet Shirt Competition

Choose your favourite shirt, see our just for fun competition on Facebook

Howard is a partner in Win Labs, the makers of Saljet6 and one of his passions is shirts.

His favorite shirtmakers are Robert Graham and Eton.

Robert Graham shirts are usually a little over the top with fabulous fun fabric designs, crazy fabric linings to the neckband and cuffs and sometimes even embroidery.

Elton shirts are a little more conservative, beautifully made but with quirky touches, such as different colored buttons on a white shirt.

Maybe this shows two sides to Howard's personality!  For a bit of fun we are going to show Howard's shirts as worn around the world on our trips, watch for the wildest shirts and vote for your favorite on our facebiook site hhttps://www.facebook.com/saljetsaline

The Symposium of Advanced Wound Care

We have just spent a lovely 4 days in San Diego attending the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care.

We have just spent a lovely 4 days in San Diego attending the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care. After the heat of Orlando it was a great pleasure to be in the cooler climes of San Diego. It is some time since we have had the pleasure of visiting the city and we visited some great restaurants, Seersucker for great brunches, www.seersucker.com, the doughnut balls with orange flavored creme anglaise were to die for! A great modern Italian in Little Italy called Bencotto, www.lovebencotto.com, with my sort of pasta menu, choose the pasta and choose the sauce and add mushrooms, (not compulsory!). We also visited Pamplemousse Grille in Solana Beach, check out their lovely menu at www.pgrille.com.

As ever at SAWC it was good fun to meet up with old friends, a couple of whom we hadn't seen for five years or so.

Our visit to San Diego also coincided with The San Diego Padres playing at home and the city was buzzing with Padre fans.

On Sunday we took a trip out on the tram to a delightful outdoor mall, Fashion Valley, where we spent a lovely afternoon wandering in the sunshine. We will definitely be back to San Diego.
